Cacti and Yuccas

​Hesperaloes:

     These are not true yuccas, they usually have long, narrow leaves, and the blooms are on long arching stalks.

​

     Red Yucca- narrow leaves, 3'-4' tall and wide, crimson blooms on 5' flower spikes

​

​​     Ruby Red Yucca- narrow leaves, 3'-4' tall and wide, ruby red blooms on 5' flower

spikes

     

     Yellow Sun Yucca- narrow leaves, 3'-4' tall and wide, yellow blooms on 5' flower spikes

 

     Brakelights Yucca- narrow leaves, 2' tall and wide, dark red blooms on 3'-4' flower spikes

 

     Ivory Swan Yucca- narrow leaves, 4'-5' tall and wide, creamy white blooms on 5' flower spikes

 

     Pink Parade Yucca- narrow leaves, 3'-4' tall and wide, pink flowers on 8' flower spikes

Yuccas:

     Adam's Needle- 3'-4' tall and wide, erect leaves with sharp tips, 3'-6' bloom stalk, ivory white flowers

​

     Bright Edge Yucca- 3'-4' tall and wide, stiff sword like leaves with a green center and yellow eges, 6' bloom stalk with creamy white blooms

​

     Color Guard Yucca- 3' tall X 2' wide, yellow centered variegated leaves brightens to creamy gold in the summer, turning pinkish in the fall, 6' stalk with white flowers

​

     Pendula Yucca- 6'-8' tall and wide, soft, long blue-green leaves, tall stalk with white flowers, plants can develop a trunk and become branched with age

​

     Silver Anniversary Yucca- 2'-3' tall X 3'-4' wide, dusty blue upright leaves, tall stalk with white flowers

​

     Rostrata (Beaked) Yucca- tree like, thin stiff leaves form a symetrical rosette, will eventually grow a trunk, large stalk with white flowers

​

     Soap Tree- 5'-20' tree like yucca, fine arching gray-green to blue-green leaves with white edges, 3'-7' stalk with creamy white blooms

​

     Spanish Dagger- 6'-12' tall with trunk, 2' long, thick, stiff leaves have tiny serrations on the edges and a very sharp tip, white flowers on tall stalk

​

     Variegated Spanish Dagger- 4'-5' tall and wide, blue green leaves with cream edges, tall stalk with cream blooms

​

     Twisted Yucca- 2' tall X 3' wide, new leaves are straight and become twisted with age, 5' stalk with white flowers

​

Sotols

     These are actually succulents that have a symetrical rosette growth habit. They have tall unique flower spikes. 

​

    Blue Desert Spoon- silvery blue-green narrow leaves, leaves can reach 5' in length with yellow spines down the edges, trunk can reach 4'-5' tall, 15' flower stalk with white blooms

​

     Green Desert Spoon- silvery green narrow leaves, leaves can reach 5' in length with yellow spines down the edges, trunk can reach 4'-5' tall, 15' flower stalk with white blooms

​

Agave

     Americana- 3'-6' tall X 6'-10' wide, thick blue-green leaves up to 6' in length has sharp spines and tip, 15'-30' tall flower stalk with white flowers

​

     Americana Variegata- 3'-6' tall X 6'-10' wide, thick blue-green leaves have a cream to yellow edge, leaves can reach 6' in length and has sharp spines and tip, 12'-30' tall flower stalk with white flowers

​

     Havardiana (Havard's Agave)- 2'-3' rosette, blue gray leaves can be up to 24" long, 12' flower stalk with yellow flowers

​

     Mr. Ripple- 3'-4' tall X 4'-6' wide, blue-green wide, wavy leaves

​

     New Mexico Agave- 1'-1 1/2' tall X 2' wide, light gray leaves

​

     Whale's Tongue- 2'-5' tall X 3'-7' wide, short and wide gray leaves, 10'-14' flower spike

​

     Parry's Agave- 2' tall and wide, blue gray leaves are thick, 10'-20' tall flower spike

​

     Parry Truncata (Artichoke Agave)- 1'-2' tall X 2'-3' wide, blue-gray leaves are wider than Parry's agave, flower stalk is 15'

​

Cacti 

Golden Barrel Cactus- 1'-2' tall and wide, has golden yellow spines

​Prickly Pear Cactus:

     Santa Rita- 4' tall X 6' wide, blue gray pads in summer turn to a rich purple in  winter,yellow flowers

​

     Spineless- 3' tall X 6' wide, gray green leaves, yellow flowers

​

Hedgehog Cactus:

     Claret cups- 1'-3' tall X 1'-2' wide, orange-red flowers

​

     Hedgehog cactus- can have 3-50 1' tall stems, spreads to 3' wide, bright purple/pink flowers

​

     Texas Rainbow cactus- 15" tall, 4" diameter stems, has rings or bands on the stem, yellow flowers with hint of pink and orange

​

     Cow Crippler- 1"-3" tall X 12" wide, salmon pink flowers are 1"-2 3/4" tall and wide

​

     Turtle Toes (Nipple Cactus)- 1"-2" tall X 3"-6" wide, dark green, pale flowers​
